Millerton Lake is an artificial lake, but beautiful nonetheless. It was created by construction of the Friant Dam across the San Joaquin River in the 1940’s. The lake stores water and is also used for flood control. It is part of the Central Valley Project, the massive federal project that stores and ferries irrigation water to farms and drinking water to residents of Southern California. I like to hike around the lake. Here is what I saw this evening…
